| Basic Arrangement | |||||||||||||||
An arrangement is made for an initial 12 months, renewable by mutual agreement. The client organisation (referred to below as simply "the client") provides sufficient information about the radiation work (or intended work) and radiation equipment to enable Internet-RPA identify the radiation hazards and manner in which ionising radiation legislation affects or will affect the client. The client also nominates a contact person (referred to below as "the contact"); this would normally be the person whom the client has or expects to appoint as Radiation Protection Superviser (RPS). Internet-RPA will then provide the contact with written initial advice laying out the basic safeguards and legislative requirements. This will normally be in the form of an email or fax. The contact is encouraged to email or fax Internet-RPA about any areas that need clarification and to communicate his intentions with regard to the initial advice. |
|||||||||||||||
| Internet-RPA will communicate regularly with the contact (normally at least once a quarter) to ask how radiation safety is progressing and whether there are any new matters that require discussion. Apart from these regular reviews, the contact can communicate with Internet-RPA at any time to ask about ionising radiation safety or the provisions of the relevant legislation. Initial contact should be either by email or fax. Normally Internet-RPA will respond by email or fax, whichever the contact prefers; however, if thought more appropriate, then Internet-RPA may verbally interact with the contact by phone. While not wanting to limit the non-quaterly communications, should the number and complexity be such as to require more than about 10 man-hours of Internet-RPA's time over one of the 12 month periods, then a high usage "top-up" fee may be charged (please see Provisional Pricing). | |||||||||||||||
| Visits to the Client | |||||||||||||||
| It is the intention that Internet-RPA cover simple radiation uses which either require a single short annual visit or, under normal circumstances, no regular visit at all. Should at any time Internet-RPA consider it advisable to visit the client, then this will be arranged with the contact. If the fee structure (please see Provisional Pricing) does not cover this visit, there would be an extra charge to cover the costs involved (again, please see Provisional Pricing). However, if the client is unwilling to accept the visit or pay the agreed costs, then the arrangements between the client and Internet-RPA will cease and Internet-RPA will refund to the client the fee relating to the remaining unused months of the arrangement. | |||||||||||||||
| Not-with-standing the above, Internet-RPA may request a courtesy visit to the client at no charge and without taking up any visit that is included in the arrangement. If convenient, then this visit would be arranged with the contact. As the prime purpose would be for familiarisation, a report would not normally be provided after the visit. | |||||||||||||||
| Other Matters | |||||||||||||||
| Internet-RPA's responsibility is limited to providing radiation protection advice to the client in good faith to the best of its ability based upon the information provided by the client; meeting the requirements of legislation and providing a safe working environment remains the responsibility of the client. The client is also free to obtain additional radiation protection advice from a third party if he so wishes. Internet-RPA is able to provide services other than radiation protection advice. For example, calibration of contamination or doserate meters can be arranged, swabs can be taken from sealed sources to perform the normally required 2-year leakage test, and training can be provided. These would attract an extra cost - estimates are available by visiting our sister site www.ionising.com/services. | |||||||||||||||
| These Terms & Conditions can be amended or added to by being published on this website. The new version would effect new and existing arrangements from the date of publishing; however, it will not unfairly affect existing arrangements. Any arrangement can be terminated by either client or Internet-RPA by giving one month's notice to that effect by email or letter to the other party. Internet-RPA will refund to the client the fee relating to the unused months of the arrangement that remain after the notice period. | |||||||||||||||
